A Place Where Healing Feels Possible

Cielomar was created to be more than a treatment center — it is a place of refuge, restoration, and renewed hope. Every detail of our environment and approach is designed to support meaningful, lasting recovery in a setting that feels calm, private, and genuinely caring.

Our Mission
Our mission is to provide compassionate, individualized eating disorder treatment in a safe and supportive environment where healing can unfold naturally. We are committed to helping individuals reconnect with themselves, rebuild trust with their bodies, and move toward recovery with dignity, respect, and evidence-based care.
At Cielomar, we believe recovery is not a one-size-fits-all process. It is personal, layered, and deeply human — and our work honors that truth every step of the way.
Our Approach
Real Life Recovery
We emphasize the importance of putting into practice the various skills and tools acquired during treatment. Everything we do in treatment has an eye towards how it could be useful in real-life situations. We strive to take treatment out of the bubble, and into the lives of our clients.
Whether it's groups like Life Beyond Treatment or Joy of Cooking, or group outings to local restaurants or clothing shopping exposure, our goal is to help build bridges from your time at Cielomar to your life outside of treatment. You deserve time to heal, time to build, time to plant new seeds in recovery. Then, when you take the brave and confident step back into your life, you'll have tangible tools to lean on.

Our Philosophy
Cielomar’s treatment philosophy is rooted in the belief that true recovery happens when individuals feel safe, seen, and genuinely supported. We take a person-centered, trauma-informed approach that honors each client’s unique story, pace, and needs. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, we address the emotional, psychological, and relational roots of eating disorders through evidence-based care delivered with compassion and respect. Our warm, home-like environment, combined with a highly engaged clinical team, allows clients to build trust, rediscover their sense of self, and develop sustainable tools for lasting healing. At Cielomar, recovery is not about perfection—it’s about connection, empowerment, and creating a life that feels meaningful beyond the eating disorder.

The Cielomar Story
Cielomar Recovery was started by Dr. Matt Keck and Sofia Keck, founders of the nationally recognized group of Eating Disorder Treatment facilities, Cielo House. Innovators of the homelike setting for Eating Disorder treatment, we wanted to create a safe haven for those who were seeking recovery, but were put off by the unwelcoming, clinical settings available at the time.
Over the past 15 years we have helped thousands of individuals and families find recovery and have instilled in staff and clients the idea that treatment did not have to be unpleasant, it could feel like home, it could even be fun. Raising awareness and reducing stigma about Eating Disorders has been a big part of our ethos. We partnered with state legislators to denote an Eating Disorders Awareness week in San Francisco, hosted NEDA Walks, benefit concerts, and participated in numerous community events spreading messages of positive body image and empowerment.
With Cielomar, we hope to take the personalized, compassionate approach to recovery beyond the walls of the treatment center, to wherever our clients happen to be in the world. We seek to offer that same sense of caring and fun to clients while they are actively participating in the world and building their lives. Through our commitment to innovate, use technology that speaks to our clients, and ALWAYS put their needs first, we are proud to present Cielomar Recovery to the Eating Disorder community.
